Licenses and sites

How Consentful licenses work — what counts as a site, free preview domains, activating a domain, and moving a license to another site.

Your license key

Every account has a license key (CNSNT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), shown on the Licenses page. Paste it into Consentful's activation screen on each platform. It stays in the editor and is never published on your site.

Need more sites than your plan includes? Paid plans can add extra sites from the Licenses page.

What counts as a site

A site is one root domain plus all its subdomains, on any platform:

  • acme.com, www.acme.com, shop.acme.com (Shopify) and blog.acme.com (WordPress) → 1 site
  • acme.com and acme.co.uk → 2 sites

Free preview domains

These show the full Pro banner and never use a site: *.framer.website, *.framer.app, *.webflow.io, *.myshopify.com, localhost, *.local, *.test and private IP addresses.

Like every site, a platform address (*.framer.app, *.webflow.io, *.myshopify.com…) needs to be activated with a key first; a free key works. Local addresses (localhost, *.local, *.test) work without one.

Adding a domain

  • Automatically — activating in Framer, Webflow, Shopify or WordPress adds the site's domain for you.
  • Manually — on the Licenses page, click Add site and enter the domain.

Moving a site

Remove a domain on the Licenses page and add another. Each slot can be swapped once every 30 days. A domain added by mistake can be removed within 24 hours without using the swap.

If a domain isn't activated

A domain that isn't on any license shows no banner (trackers stay blocked). This doesn't apply to WordPress, which never checks a license on your live site. Add it on the Licenses page or activate from your platform, then reload — no republishing needed.
