Scripts
Add Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar and other trackers in Consentful so they only run after the visitor consents to their category.
Add every tracking script here instead of pasting it into your site's code. Consentful keeps each one switched off until the visitor allows its category.
Add a script
- Click Add managed script.
- Give it a name (e.g. "Google Analytics") and pick its category.
- Paste either the script URL (for
<script src="…">) or the inline code. - Optionally describe its purpose — it's shown in the preference center.
Scan your site
Use Scan to detect trackers already on your published site. Consentful recognizes Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, X (Twitter) Pixel, Pinterest Tag, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, Segment, Mixpanel, Plausible, Intercom and more, and suggests the right category. Scanning works on platforms that can read your published site; elsewhere, add scripts by hand.
Embedded content (YouTube, Maps, …)
Embedded videos, maps and social posts set cookies as soon as they load. Turn on Block embeds until consent and Consentful holds them back:
- YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Spotify, Google Maps, SoundCloud, Loom, Dailymotion, Twitch, Wistia, LinkedIn and Pinterest embeds are detected automatically, including ones that appear after the page loads.
- Each one shows a small placeholder at its normal size — "This content is hosted by YouTube, which may set cookies." — with a Load content button that loads just that embed.
- Once the visitor accepts the embed's category (Marketing by default; change it under Unblocked by), every embed loads straight away.
The placeholder text and button are translated into all 29 languages, and on paid plans you can reword them on the Theme tab, under Blocked embeds. Embed blocking is included on every plan, including Free.
To gate any other iframe, mark it up yourself — see Blocking scripts.
A tracker that's still hard-coded in your site's head or a theme file will run before consent. Move it into Consentful, or mark it as shown in Blocking scripts.
