Install the app
Install Consentful from the Shopify App Store.

Activate
Open Apps → Consentful and paste your free license key; your store domain is detected.

Design and publish
Style the banner and click Publish.

Turn on the app embed
Click "Turn on app embed" — the theme editor opens with Consentful on. Click Save.

Does Shopify have a built-in cookie banner?
Shopify offers a basic banner through its Customer Privacy settings. Consentful gives you full design control, script blocking for third-party trackers and Google Consent Mode v2, while still feeding Shopify's Customer Privacy API.
Why do I have to turn on the app embed myself?
Shopify doesn't let apps change your theme on their own. You switch the embed on once — the app opens the theme editor with it already on, so you only click Save.
Does it work on a development or password-protected store?
Yes. *.myshopify.com addresses get the full banner free; on password-protected stores it appears after the storefront password.
